RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Maybe a road glide instead? They are way cool. What do you think about a road glide with apes?

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I was talking about brakes with my indy and see said that floating rotars tend to end up sounding like a "tamborine" Anyone know about this? My fronts are soft and squeaky so I need a change.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Payloader, I agree that it is tough to define what is made in america. I think there is a movement for a requirement to put the symbol of the nation of origin on goods. Considering that our manufacturing jobs have been falling away at light speed, there would probably be few american flags out there. I'd like to see it though. I try to buy american whenever possible. Stores are FULL of******made in china. Can't we make anything here anymore? It's sad.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

This is not a bash. I would like to hear what you all think of the below. I am vacillating like a mofo on who to vote for! I cannot decide.
McCain was "disappointed" that the secret service was required to purchase American made motorcycles. "Lastly, I am also disappointed that the bill will once again this year contain a department wide 'buy American' requirement, and specific language directing the secret service to purchase American made motorcycles. I firmly object to all 'Buy American' restrictions, as they represent gross examples of protectionist trade policy. From a philosophical point of view, I oppose such policies because free trade is an important element in improving relations among all nations, which then improves the security of our Nation. Furthermore, as a fiscal conservative, I want to ensure our Goverment gets the best deal for taxpayers and with a 'Buy American' restriction that cannot be guaranteed." Congressional Record, 7/14/2005

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Well duh, that was it, I forgot the toggle. I now have a working 12v thing on my scoot. I looks pretty good too, very out of the way.
I can't do the pic thing but if you send me your email I'll send you a pic.

I really hate to admit this, but no, I didn't try the toggles yet. I'll do that when I get home.
Greenman, don't feel bad. It's all operator error. And truth be told, I have had a lot of fun learning more about how the bike works.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I think if you found the one with the rubber cap, that's probably it. The one I found really isn't under the seat it hangs down by the right side fuse box.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

It's the top of the plu, outside the actual port that is bigger. Like a muffin. The part in the paper is small but the top is much bigger (boy that's a fem analogy)

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Just talked to my Indy...there are two places to plug in under the seat. I plugged into the wrong one obviously. I plugged into the computer port. The other one, the orrect one is in that "pit" in front of the battery under the seat. I has a larger, more gray color plug in it.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Just a follow up in case you're curious, I re ran the diagnostic and it was the same after the fuse was replaced. One change though, an additional code came up. P1010 - MIssing Password EFI
Still had same part numbers also.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

That was it King! The ignition fuse was blown. Only one side tested bad. So I replaced and the bike starts up fine now. And by the way, the fuse in slot 2 for the fuel pump was fine xcept it only lights up the tester if the bike is running. That seems odd to me.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for your help. No way I could have fixed it by myself.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Well, I bought a tester and I'm no expert but when I touched it to the fuse in slot 3 for ECM it lights up. When I touch it to the fuse in slot 2 for the fuel pump, no light. Do I replace the whole fuse box?
